Covid-19: Essential Oral Health Tips

Covid-19 Essential Oral Health Tips | Best Dallas Dentist

At Dallas Dental Wellness, we care about your family’s health and safety. More than ever, we would like to stress to you the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your dental health.

Your oral health and dental hygiene may not be at the top of mind during the covid-19 pandemic, but that could change fast if you develop a painful cavity. By ensuring that you and your family are keeping up and being mindful about your oral health, you are avoiding unnecessary complications in the long run.

Although we are living in stressful times, it is important not to leave things like oral health. Remember, your oral health is closely related to your overall health! Here are essential oral health tips that you should keep in mind during the pandemic.

1. Stick to a healthy diet

Maintaining a healthy diet is not only good for your oral health, it will benefit your health in general. It might be tempting to eat a lot of sugary comfort foods during this time, but sugar can weaken your enamel, most especially if you are not brushing regularly. Cut back on hard candies and stay away from coffee and soda. Go for healthier alternatives that boost your immune system like poultry, fruits, and vegetables. These are loaded with essential vitamins like Vitamin A, B, C, and E.

2. Use mindfulness techniques

Jaw clenching or teeth grinding are common reactions to stress. Sadly, these can cause earaches, jaw pain, and headaches. If you can, leave small notes around the house as a friendly reminder to relax. If you are struggling with jaw pain or headaches, general mindfulness techniques like deep breathing and meditation can help reduce stress. There are also jaw exercises that you can easily do at home to lessen the tension in your mouth.

3. Maintain a regular oral hygiene routine

The main objective is plaque control. This is a special time, and it is essential that we gain a sense of control over the things that we can. One is oral hygiene. Be sure to brush all the surfaces of your teeth regularly, and do not forget to clean your tongue!

Your schedule might be a bit thrown off at the moment, so if your struggling to keep up with your oral hygiene routine, try posting reminders or setting alarms.

Keep in mind these oral health tips, and let’s all be part of the solution. As our community is counting on us to do our part in stopping the spread of covid-19, we should include great dental hygiene in our routine. And if you need us, remember that your Dr. Sarah Kong, your Dallas dentist, and her caring team are here to help. There are people who can help you, even in the most uncertain of times.

Let’s keep each other healthy, safe, and smiling!
